Rabies Hiatus

Apologies for the extended break in posting.  The explanation has to do with the aforementioned rabies scare – a scare which, hopefully, has reached its end.

My wife and I developed some worrisome medical symptoms over the last few weeks, prompting me to pass on the job in Oman.  The worst seems to be behind us, but the stress of all this has made writing about politics and religion seem, well, somewhat trivial.

This blog is not dead yet though, and I hope to resume posting on a regular basis within the next 1-2 weeks.
